The Twenty-First Meeting of the Executive Board of the Pan Caribbean Partnership Against HIV and AIDS (PANCAP) and the Sixth Meeting of the Regional Coordinating Mechanism for the Global Fund Projects were convened under the Chairmanship of Hon. Colin Riley, Minister of Health, Education, Community Services and Labour, Montserrat, on 25-26 April 2014 at the PomMarine Hotel, Bridgetown, Barbados.
In opening the Executive Board meeting the Chair reminded members that the response to HIV is of significant importance to our region since persons living with and affected by HIV are counting on us to deliver an effective response. “The response to HIV has served to strengthen the entire health system. We must intensify efforts to help people to live healthy lives since this brings benefits to everyone”, the Chair said. Minister Riley encouraged all partners to acknowledge our collective work in HIV.
The membership endorsed the new Caribbean Regional Strategic Framework (CRSF) for HIV and AIDS 2014-2018, and the PANCAP RCM Expression of Interest for submission to the Global Fund for additional funding under the New Funding Model, received the Director’s and Financial Reports and Update on the Implementation of the PANCAP Global Fund Round 9 Grant, Phase II. The meetings also discussed strategies for strengthening Board leadership, the implications of treatment guidelines for laboratory services, resource mobilization and sustainability, and reflected on the achievements and challenges of PANCAP in the context of its future direction.
