Senior Research Specialist

Applications are invited from suitably qualified nationals of Trinidad and Tobago for employment, on contract, for a period of three (3) years, in the undermentioned position in the Directorate of Health Policy, Research and Planning, Ministry of Health.

Job Summary

The incumbent in this position provides technical support to the Director, Health Policy, Research and Planning in undertaking or supporting highly advanced-level research work; maintaining peer linkages with the research and academic community; and governance of the National Health Research System.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Formulates research priorities for the health system.
  • Identifies and mobilizes funding for research priorities.
  • Uses sound research methodologies, designs, conducts or commissions research projects.
  • Collaborates with research institutions in designing and conducting research projects.
  • Authors and/or co-authors scientific research publications.
  • Disseminates research findings via symposia, journals and electronic means.
  • Coordinates grant-funded research projects awarded to the Ministry of Health and executed by research agencies.
  • Works with the Research Ethics Committee to ensure ethical standards in the conduct of national health research.
  • Makes arrangements for, and hosts regional and international conferences.
  • Supports departments in the Ministry of Health in the development and execution of research projects.
  • Supervises research staff.

Minimum Qualification, Education and Abilities

  • MPhil or other Postgraduate Degree with a minimum of seven (7) years experience in conducting quantitative and qualitative research.
  • Training in the use of statistical software e.g. Epi Info or S.P.S.S.

MoH - Assistant Audit Analyst
Applications are invited from suitably qualified nationals of Trinidad and Tobago for employment, on contract, for a period of ten (10) months, in the undermentioned position in the Internal Audit Division, Ministry of Health.

Job Summary

The incumbent in this position is responsible for conducting audit examinations of varying complexity and performing compliance audits of policies and procedures guided by the financial regulations and relevant standards. The incumbent reports to the Audit Analyst.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Executes audit plan and directives from the Audit Analyst.
  • Carries out compliance audits of Regional Health Authorities (RHAs), Global Medical Response of Trinidad and Tobago (GMRTT), Integrated Human Resource Information Systems (IHRIS) and new units created in relation to policies and relevant financial regulations and standards.
  • Prepares reports and working papers of each assignment to be reviewed by the Audit Analyst.

Performs related work as required.

Minimum Qualification, Education and Abilities

  • Possession of ACCA Certification, up to Level 2.
  • Must be CIA, CFE or CPA qualified.
  • One (1) year working experience in the Auditing field.
  • Must be computer literate and have strong writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Financial Regulations, Exchequer and Audit Accounts and Public Accounting Regulations and Procedures.

ERHA - Manager - Patient Care Services

The Manager, Patient Care Services will report to the General Manger - Hospital Services and is responsible for supervising the Para Clinical Services such as Radiology, Laboratory, Physiotherapy and Pharmacy etc. He/She will be responsible for the planning, implementation, delivery and control of all the Para-Clinical Services at the Sangre Grande Hospital in collaboration with the relevant personnel and for ensuring that the quality of services provided is in accordance with best practices and established standards.

Minimum Training and Experience

  • First Degree in Management or any of the disciplines such as Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Radiology and Laboratory Services
  • Training in Hospital Administration, Health Services Administration would be an asset.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years experience of which three (3) must have been in a Senior Management capacity preferably in the Health Sector.
  • Extensive experience in Current Management Theory and Practices.
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience

ERHA - Registered Nurse (ICU)

The Registered Nurse will report to the Nurse in charge of the Intensive Care Unit. He/she is responsible for working along with the Nurse in Charge to perform midwifery activities. Work involves administering medicines, assisting at operations and other similar duties in the care and treatment of patients; some supervision is exercised over sub-professional staff such as student nurses, nurse's aides or other workers engaged in the care and treatment of patients. Duties are performed in accordance with established rules and regulations, standard practices of the profession and in accordance with detailed instruction from a professional supervisor, who reviews work for the maintenance of standards and adherance to instructions.

Minimum Training and Experience

  • Training as evidenced by the possession of a certificate in General Nursing from a recognized School of Nursing.
  • Post Basic Training in Intensive Care
  • Registered with the Nursing School Council of Trinidad and Tobago in General Nursing
  • At least three (3) years training in a recognized school of Nursing.

ERHA - Nursing Assistant (ICU)

The Nursing Assistant will report to the Head Nurse / Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit. He/she will berequired to perform duties such as orientation, meeting the needs of personal hygiene, nutrition and keeping the environment clean and safe and that quality health care is delivered to all patients.

Minimum Training and Experience

  • Three (3) CXC O'Levels subject inclusive of one (1) Science.
  • At least two (2) years training with an institution recognized by the Nursing Council of Trinidad and Tobago.
  • Post Basic Training in Intensive Care.
