At its annual Appreciation Ceremony held on Friday at the Cara Lodge, the National AIDS Programme Secretariat (NAPS) honoured several individuals and organisations that dedicated their energies for a number of years to impact the fight against HIV/AIDS.

The Ministry of Health Guyana launched its HIV Case Reporting Standard Operating Procedures on 10 December 2013. The procedures were developed in partnership with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) grantee, the National Alliance of State and Territorial Directors (NASTAD).

Drugs, test kits benefit people living with HIV and AIDS
Guyana, a small country in the Caribbean, now benefits from a 21st century supply chain that provides health commodities, including safe and effective antiretroviral drugs for Guyanese who are living with HIV, and reliable kits to test those at risk.
Local authorities are planning to maximise the US$67,000 allocated by the German government, as part of an overall an €8 million (US$10.4 million) grant to the Caribbean Community (Caricom) to help the region intensify the war against HIV/AIDS.
